So because I'm lazy and the holidays are unexpectedly exhausting and busy, I've been putting off an update post for December, though it's not like I didn't have news. I had great news. I got a piece published by the wonderful Cartridge Lit which was then kindly reviewed by FictionFeed. It was very cool to see some in-depth feedback for one of my publications, and even more exciting to see someone get from it the sort of questions I'd wanted to ask. Here's a quote from the review: How would one experience being forced into a heroic situation? Are characters’ “fated” to win the game? Is regeneration/immortality a blessing or a curse? And, is there such a thing as freedom or choice in the closed system of a video game environment? Read the piece here: RPG in Six Parts
Read the Review here: On the Existential Implications of Video Games I also got an acceptance for a poem called "cosmic anatomy" from The Rain, Party, & Disaster Society. I was hoping for at least one more rejection before the new year but it looks like I got this instead (not complaining, not at all!). They also asked me to write a little piece for an artist spotlight they do on their blog, which is super cool and another first for me. On the downside, when I went to remove this poem from consideration at the other lit mag I'd sim subbed it to, I found out they were planning on accepting it, too. Both are awesome mags that publish great work so I'm sort of glad the timing decided for me because I honestly couldn't pick between the two.
